Answer 1 :
Tryout for a semi-pro league, burn it up and maybe you'll get somebody interested. Also, every year major league teams hold open tryouts. Good luck
Answer 2 :
Call the team and ask if they have open tryouts.
Answer 3 :
How old are you and what position do you play?
Answer 4 :
All major league franchises have open try outs with there minor leagues teams. Your best bet is to contact the local minor league franchise owned by the major league team and see what their schedule looks like.
Answer 5 :
Look for any pro team open tryouts in your area. I know there are hundreds around this time in Arizona. You better be in great shape and really stand out. Most pro teams will live with a hitter who is not quite up to par. But you better be fast and exceptional defensively. Throwing arms are a dime a dozen so speed is what they will consider before almost anything. They will teach you everything else. One thing that always goes a long way is if you can play more than one position.
Answer 6 :
Not to be mean - but you have no chance. If you are over 22, you are too old. If you are under 22 and have not been to college or played in the minors yet, you will not be looked at, even at an open tryout for an independent league.
Answer 7 :
I played minor league baseball for a couple of yrs. and I know how the system works. 1) How old are you? Like the last responder said, that has a ton to do with it. You can't get into an open try-out unless you are 23 or younger. 2) If you meet that requirement of being younger than 23 I would suggest if you have college eligibility left, go and try-out at a local junior college or small college. If that is not an option, you better be very fast, like 6.4 second 60 yrd dash or the equivelent to a 4.4 second 40 yrd. dash or you better have a rocket for an arm, basically that is the only way to even get a sniff from a local scout, much less an area scout. I don't care how good you think you can hit, it absolutely doesn't matter if you have no prior expierence, unless you have Gary Sheffield like bat speed, and you still probably wouldn't get a look because of the bat. Basically, you have to be young with a cannon for an arm or young and very, very fast without playing expierience.
Answer 8 :
go to college
Answer 9 :
You could try to go as a walk on.
Answer 10 :
I was given the explanation of: of all the high school players that play <1% will go division 1 of those division 1s <1% will go to single A of those single As <1% will will make it to double A and so on, up to the majors Beyond the simple example, the other thing that you should take from this is the 'coming up in the system' aspect, as eluded to in another post: gotta be in it, stay in it and come up in it. You can do the math, but it's a small fraction of 1% of the total population in the US (remembering many players come from foreign countries) that actually live the dream of playing professional hardball at any level. There are many amateur adult hardball teams out there. If your motivation is truly the love of the game...that's the best route to stay in it.

Is it best to leave for a university or Jr college if you want to play basketball

Is it best to leave for a university or Jr college if you want to play basketball ?
What would be the best college ? Arizona or Memphis ?

Answer 1 :
It really depends on your talent level. If you honestly are a talented ball player and think you can compete and start at a D1 level with ease than I say go to the university, however if you think your going to need some more work it wouldn't hurt you to go to a Jr college and tune your skills a little. I think Memphis is a better basketball college, your going to get a good pro look there, and your going to compete against better players because Memphis usually has a good schedule, however if your wanna go on location the Arizona is better scenery wise.

Answer 1 :
where is green valley?
Answer 2 :
U of A is down that way.
Answer 3 :
The Biggest University near Green Valley is University of Arizona in Tucson. It's about 30-40 mins. away. Website is www.arizona.edu. You can also check out Pima Community College, also in Tucson website www. pima.edu
Answer 4 :
Pima Community College's Desert Vista campus is the closest college, which is west of I-19 between Irvington and Valencia. It's about a 15-minute drive from Green Valley (Duval Mine). If you need a "real" school, UA in Tucson is the closest.

Financial Aid - 1 Answers

Answer 1 :
Unless community colleges are terribly expensive in Arizona, the PELL will pay 50% of the cost of tuition, fees, books, and living expenses. The living expenses are defined by the college and the US Department of Education and bear no relationship to to reality. Everything combined, the grant should pay for your tuition, fees, books, with some left over. You also qualify for Federal Student Work Study, and may qualify for other financial assistance. Have a serious conversation with the financial aid office. If you have children, there may be money for child care. Almost all financial aid begins with your score which is 0. Look through your college's catalog and see if it lists need based scholarships. If you work, does your employer reimburse you tuition, fees, etc.
