Can I enroll in ASU for college if I attended a charter school in high school

Can I enroll in ASU for college if I attended a charter school in high school?
I'm currently attending a charter school and am on schedule to graduate early senior year (october of '09). I scored a 27 on the ACT and got a 30 on the separate essay section. However my school does not assign a GPA or class rank. Will I still be able attend a college like Arizona State or University of Arizona?
Higher Education (University +) - 1 Answers

Answer 1 :
Yes. IF your school does not offer a GPA or class rank, they are not going to punish you for it. You have a good ACT score. Apply to ASU right now if you want to start there spring of 2010.

Transfer to college in Utah/Arizona

Transfer to college in Utah/Arizona?
I graduate with the associates degree in Accounting this may in NY state. I would love to transfer somewhere warmer, like Utah or Arizona. Can anyone advice a good college with undergraduate accounting programs? I am international student, and i have 4.0 GPA in my major. thanks!!!

Answer 1 :
Neither Utah nor Arizona are states that come to mind when one thinks about good states for universities. University of Arizona and BYU are about the only decent ones -- and even with those, you could throw a dart at a map & would probably hit a state with better universities. I gather that you are unaware that Utah is a big state for skiing -- so don't expect warm weather there.

Daughter going to College in Arizona

Daughter going to College in Arizona?
We are driving her car out there does her car need to be registered there or can we keep it registered and insured in Rhode Isalnd?
Insurance & Registration - 6 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
you should be able to keep it registered in Rhode Island...but check with the local DMV in Arizona. If she does need to register it there she can always collect money by showing her boobs...so don't worry about finances...
Answer 2 :
Normally students are exempt from plate/title transfers. Contacting the school would assist you for sure.
Answer 3 :
ARIZONA!!!?? are you sure you want your daughter to go the school there? it's STD central just search about the stats in the spring break health center! she won;t come back home like she is now!!
Answer 4 :
Check insurance rates. Knowing the Northeast... everything is more expensive there. Arizona might have some better deals on car insurance. Good Luck!
Answer 5 :
We have kept cars Registered in other States. Now, what happens, after a year or so, if the Police keep seeing the car, they could require her to Change it, but, for the time being you can keep it registered in Rhode Island. AND, if, the Police do say something she can go to court and object and get a "stay of execution"! ;-p
Answer 6 :
You have the world at your fingertips. Find the website for the Arizona DMV. If that doesn't help, ask the school she'll be attending. If that doesn't help, just have her register it there. As others have said, the rates may be lower out there than in the Northeast.

Did anyone go to college orientation recently? Anybody go to the orientation at Northern Arizona University?
I'd like to hear about NAU's if possible, but not many people know of it. How was your orientation? What did you do? Where did you stay? How did you get to know people? Who did you spend your time w/ at orientation, especially if you didn't go with parents? I'm going to the orientation next week. They've got different dates.

Answer 4 :
Hi I'm Orion. I attended the May 28th-29th orientation and I've got to say it was a blast. The 1st day the first thing that happens is you check in and get a few supplies like an NAU waterbottle (water is imperative b/c of the higher elevation), a backpack with information packets inside, and a summer reading book. Then you get your key to the dorm in Sechrist hall where you will be staying with 1 other person. The fun part comes when you actually split into your randomly selected groups and play a few "get to know each other" games. Don't be shy and just introduce yourself, and ask some basic questions, and then you're bound to get into a conversation and make new friends. Ha that's what I did and I already made a few! I didn't attend with parents so basically you are with your assigned group most of the time until you split into "breakout sessions" where you get informed on certain things like intramural sports, financial aid, or specifics on your major. Also there's a dance at the end of the 1st night. My favorite part of the orientation was the True Life play by the orientation leaders who did a splendid job and made it funny while addressing serious matters such as sex, drinking, and safety. Anyways, I hope I explained it all. Hope to see you in the fall =D. And if you want to ask anymore questions here's my email orionasn@yahoo.com See ya

Will I still have residency in for college in Arizona

Will I still have residency in for college in Arizona?
I am from Arizona, graduated high school there in 09. I attended ASU for 1 year and due to some personal issues I had moved out to California in August '10. I've been attending a Community College out here (just 1, spring, semester). Will I still have residency if I moved back to Arizona and went to a CC? Also will I still have residency if I get a job and work in California until then(moving back june/july of this year)? Thanks in advanced! Please only serious and 100% true answers :)
Financial Aid - 2 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
From information about in-state tuition/residency for the Univ. of Arizona: "In general Arizona domicile occurs when a financially independent person has been physically present in Arizona for at least a year with the clear and convincing intention of making Arizona their permanent home beyond the circumstance of their being a student.' http://registrar.arizona.edu/Residency/residenc.htm For the best information you seek regarding Arizona residency for the community college you would like to attend, I suggest you telephone the community college and ask your question of an Admissions Counselor (Admissions Office.) Generally, from info I've seen on some Ariz. community college web pages about residency, if you wish to move back to Arizona and work and live there for a full 12 months before applying for admission to a community college in Ariz. you will be considered a resident. If you live & work in Ariz. for less than 12 months prior to applying for community college admissions, you will not be considered a resident. Best wishes
Answer 2 :
Bit confused by this question. Do you mean in state student and out of state because if thats the case you would be considered an out of state student for living out in California. You would have to live in Arizona for 12 months and need documentation to prove your residency. http://students.asu.edu/residencyreclassificationsurvey

questions about college/arizona

questions about college/arizona?
1) when i go to college--where should i live, tucson phoenix or tempe? 2) ASU or U of A? 3) which should i pick , a nursing degree or art history degree? thanksssssss
Higher Education (University +) - 3 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
1. Phoenix 2. UA 3. nursing
Answer 2 :
I went to the U of A so of coarse I'm going to say that. I can't stand ASU but that being said Tempe is a really great college town. Tucson is kinda boring. I would stick to the nursing degree. The demand is really high and I think you'll get much further with it. If you go to ASU stay in Tempe/Chandler/Gilbert/Mesa area. Avoid Phoenix areas all together. To much crime especially Baseline towards 19th ave. Baseline and I-10 are okay areas. Tucson has just grown to big for it's britches but they are improving rapidly. Best Wishes!
Answer 3 :
The best method to find out info is to contact a student. You can start looking for contact information for Arizona colleges here. http://www.collegereviewed.com/Arizona-Colleges-Universities.html Students always seem to know what's up better than outsiders since they get to experience the classes and the lifestyle.

How many years must you live in Arizona to be declared a resident

How many years must you live in Arizona to be declared a resident?
I plan on going to college in Arizona, but I am a resident of Ohio. I know costs of college are cheaper when you are a resident. How long does it take to be declared such?
Other - Education - 1 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
It doesn't go by state it goes by college. So you need to go on line to the colleges in AZ you are interested in and check. In general, for most, it is a year. And there may be more requirements other than just living there. Like getting your driver's license there or filing your taxes in that state. Living on campus in a dorm does not count as being a resident. Most colleges require you to live on campus as a freshman.

If Ohio State, Boston College, and Arizona State all lose, should Kansas and Hawaii be 1-2

If Ohio State, Boston College, and Arizona State all lose, should Kansas and Hawaii be 1-2?
Ohio State will play their first quality opponent this week, playing at #25 Penn State Boston College is playing Virginia Tech on Thursday Arizona State plays a good but underachieving Cal team Kansas plays Texas A&M and Hawaii plays New Mexico State. If Kansas and Hawaii are the only remaining unbeaten teams at the end of the week don't they deserve to be 1-2 in the rankings? Can anybody but the most fanatical SEC fan put a 1 loss team ahead of an unbeaten team (of course, a few pollsters have done that the last few weeks by voting for LSU at #1 even though they have a loss)?
Football (American) - 12 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
Hawaii shouldn't be ranked near the top 5, look and who they played AND they struggled in some of their games. Texas A&M I think will defeat Kansas, and that takes care of that.
Answer 2 :
No it should be #1 OU Sooners and #2 Alabama Crimson Tide
Answer 3 :
Hawaii is not that bad no better than a top 15 team though Kansas on the other hand should be in the top 5 or six Right now there is no one team better than the other it just depends on if they show up or not
Answer 4 :
I guess if you really wanna stretch it out and go strictly by the numbers, you can make that argument because they would be the remaining teams going undefeated. However, you have to ask yourself what the rankings mean. #1 through #5 means the top 5 teams in the country, right? OR...does it mean the top 5 best records in college football? I just can't justify putting a Hawaii team that barely eked a victory against SAN JOSE STATE UNIVERSITY a top 10 team. They're a good team on the island but have proven time and again that they're horrible on the "mainland." Kansas could make a better argument playing in the big 12 against some more legitimate teams but still, you're talking about Central Michigan, Southeast Louisiana, Toledo, Florida International, and Baylor. Although their schedule will get more difficult in the coming weeks, they're not going to have the face the likes of Florida, LSU, Kentucky, South Carolina, etc.. The SEC fans do have a point. Do you honestly think that Hawaii and Kansas are the two best teams in the country? Ask yourself what those rankings mean...quantified or qualified?
Answer 5 :
You can't be serious. LSU should be #1 now!
Answer 6 :
Yes. And I should be the Pope.
Answer 7 :
Imagine the most annoying loudest laugh you have ever heard............thats me reading your question. I'm going to assume you are semi-smart and that you also have a wee little bit of common sense. Assuming that, could you imagine Hawaii or Kansas playin against LSU? If you pull your head our of your ase you would realize you already knew the answer to the question you asked. Be a winner, cheer for LSU! GEAUX TIGERS!
Answer 8 :
Both Kansas and Hawaii deserve rankings in the top 15, but neither team has posted an impressive victory so far. Kansas beat Colorado, but no one knows how good Colorado is (the Buffs beat Oklahoma, but almost lost to a pathetic Colorado State team). Similarly, Hawaii needed a miracle to beat San Jose State (not exactly a football powerhouse). Neither Kansas or Hawaii is Top 10 material- we'll see that as the season continues.
Answer 9 :
what about oregon for gods sake they should be number 1 right now! GO DUCKS QUACK DAMNIT!
Answer 10 :
do you really think if kansas or hawaii played schools in the sec like florida and lsu they would have a chance? im just gonna keep laughin on this one...
Answer 11 :
Kansas maybe but not Hawaii. They don't play anyone and had to go to OT to beat a lousy San Jose State team.
Answer 12 :
no

I'll be moving there in a few weeks. I've had a couple jobs at a Cust Service call center and I also worked Cust Service at a store. I don't have much experience.
Phoenix - 2 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
I think you will be fine. Call centers and customer services jobs have high turn over rates and are usually hiring. chase has a call center over on mill ave, right by asu.
Answer 2 :
Many banks have call centers and payment centers in Arizona. You should be able to get an entry level job with not much difficulty. Make sure your resume is in order, and that you have an easy to read format. In addition, if you have a phone service where you can play a song while the call is connecting, consider turning that off. As an HR manager, nothing is more annoying than calling a job applicant and being blasted in the ear by a questionable song choice. Usually I'll hang up the phone, and won't bother to call you back again.

University of Maryland-College Park or Arizona State University?
I have been accepted to both schools, and am having a tough time deciding which to attend. University of Maryland definitely has a better academic reputation, but I'm a little worried about the area outside of the school and the social scene. ASU on the other hand has a great social/party scene and nice town. Any opinions or Info about either school??

ASU has a great campus. Just overall, it is a bit of a party school, but it's a nice place. ASU is like a 7/ 10. For me anyways.

Maryland̢۪s Greek Life is big but ASU is the one that one got listed by Playboy as one of the top party schools. Transferring college credits Arizona State University

Transferring college credits Arizona State University?
Ok, so I am going to be doing an online Criminal Justice program through Arizona State University. I will be transferring credits from a community college (my AA is in Administration of Justice). About 7 of the required classes (21 credits) for my AA are also required for my BS. I know for a fact that all of those classes will transfer over as an equivalent of what's required for the BS. My question is, will the equivalent classes I took at the community college count both for my AA and BS? So basically would they be worth 6 credits after transfer? Or am I going to take the same class twice? I don't understand how this is supposed to work out..
Higher Education (University +) - 1 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
You should not have to take the same class twice. Many students earn their AA enroute to a BA. So yes many classes should count towards your AA and BA. Check out assist.org to see exactly what classes will transfer and what they will count towards your BA as. If your still unsure talk to some one in advising at ASU.

Do college credits from Texas schools transfer to colleges in Arizona

Do college credits from Texas schools transfer to colleges in Arizona?
I am a sophomore at a community college in Texas and am considering moving to Arizona. Will my credits transfer to the schools in Arizona so I can pick up where I left off? In TX community colleges' credits always transfer to TX universities except for degree-specific classes (they usually want your degree-specific classes to be taken at the school you're earning your degree from). So I can go to any number of comm. colleges here and eventually transfer those credits to 4-year colleges/universities here. But I'm wondering if AZ will accept any credits from out-of-state. Any personal experiences/knowledge is appreciated but someone who has information on TX to AZ will be the most applicable.
Higher Education (University +) - 1 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
Each college has its own criteria. Generally they will accept "solid" subjects that you make a C or better. If there is no parallel course at their college, they will review the curriculum for the course to see if it matches anything at their school. Suggest you review the transfer admissions website for the school you are interested in.
